“You’re my place of quiet retreat; I wait for your Word to renew me.”
Psalm 119:114 MSG.
Certain seasons in your life will squeeze you. It may be a literal season like spring or summer or a period in your life that leaves you feeling overwhelmed.
Your feet hit the floor running when you get out of bed because there’s so much to do. Other people are depending on you, and you don’t want to let them down. There’s a sense of panic to your morning as you make the coffee or head to work. You try to take a deep breath, but it’s hard because you sense the squeeze of this season.
You wonder when you’ll be able to breathe normally again and not feel like you’re running a marathon or holding your breath because it’s like you’re under water.
Oh, precious soul. God wants to renew you and remove the squeeze from your life. He wants you to come away with Him to a quiet place where you can hear yourself think and where you can hear HIM speak.
He wants to remove your anxiety and your stress, not by covering it up, but by revealing His truth in it – “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7 NIV.)
You don’t have to be perfect or have it all together. You can come to Him when you’re weary, stressed-out with tear-soaked cheeks, and frustrated because you don’t know how to make everything work or come together or get done. You can come to Him when you’re struggling to meet the world’s demands and deadlines.
And when you spend time with Him and read His Word, and you wait for Him to speak to you, you’ll be amazed at what He can do with the rest of your day and your to-do list.
You’ll find the start of your day is no longer a sprint but a quiet tiptoeing to that lovely place where you and your Heavenly Father can meet in the stillness. Just the two of you.
Just think, the same God who dotted the night sky with thousands of stars and taught the morning sun how to shine wants to spend time with YOU and help you through this stressful season.
And He wants to love you through it too.
