Don’t be tempted to manipulate your circumstances while you’re waiting for God to open that closed door or to answer your request. Yes, waiting is hard work. But you can do it. You NEED to do it.
Don’t think for a minute that God isn’t aware. He’s always working behind the scenes on your behalf. He knows more about the condition of your heart and this situation, that closed door, than you do.
But if you shove your way to the door and try to shoulder your way inside, you could ruin all that God has been working on.
Think of the time it takes a spider to build its web and how those tiny droplets of dew glisten in the rich warmth of an autumn sunrise. It’s a lovely piece of artwork, a canvas of beauty, until someone rushes through it, brushing it off like a nuisance.
You have no idea what God is creating for you, what He’s designing and crafting at this very moment and all that He’s working out for your good. Trust Him. Trust His plan. Don’t try to bulldoze your way into this situation as if you know better.
Don’t treat this waiting period as a nuisance, brushing it off and rushing ahead. Don’t let anger, guilt, or fear motivate you to move – the itching of your flesh that wants to spur you forward.
Wait on God to guide your steps. Wait on His Holy Spirit to tell you when to move, what to say, and how to approach the door when it opens.
And while you’re waiting, remember God waits with you. He can use this time to flood your heart with more of Him – if you’ll let Him.
Oh, precious soul, waiting is hard. Of course, it is. But when you get where God is leading and you look back at the intricate artwork of your journey, you’ll see it was worth it.
And your heart will be ready to appreciate it.
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Psalm 27:14 NIV.
Words I needed to hear in a season of waiting. Thank you for sharing them.
