The Depth Of Surrender

“Some time later, God tested Abraham’s faith. ‘Take your son, your only son – yes, Isaac, whom you love so much – and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.'”

Genesis 22:1a, 2 NLT.

Your faith is going to be tested, and sometimes that test will involve a surrender.

Will you be able to let go of something you treasure? Will you be able to hand over those you love the most?

Will you trust that God is who He says He is, and that He has good plans for your life?

Will you trust Him even if it means giving it all away, or if you have to offer up and surrender that one thing, that one person you love so much?

Of course, it can be extremely difficult if you’re focusing on who or what you’re surrendering. It can feel like a part of you is being ripped away. You might start to panic and lose sleep, wondering how you’ll survive this depth of surrender.

Until you look to the One to whom you are surrendering.

Abraham knew God. He had a relationship with Him – a deep friendship. And by surrendering his treasured son Isaac to God, he trusted that God had a reason.

Believe, precious soul, when God asks you to surrender someone or something that He has a reason.

Perhaps it’s to release an idol that has a hold on you. Or maybe it’s a test to see if God is really God in your life or if you’ve allowed someone else to take that most prominent place in your heart.

There will be times when lifting up a loved one to the Lord will make you feel like you’re suffocating until you realize it’s the best place for that person to be – in the loving arms of the Father who not only knows what’s best for that person but can provide it in abundance.

Watch and see, precious soul, what God can do when you allow the depth of your surrender to go deeper than you ever thought possible.

Watch and see how He blesses and cares for and miraculously moves in the life of the loved one you surrendered to Him – His rescue will astound you.

Watch and see how, in His hands, that “something” you surrendered to Him will reach beyond the limitations that have always been there to be a blessing to you instead of an idol – a blessing that will draw you closer to the Father instead of standing in the way.

And breathe easy knowing the Holy Spirit is with you as you release your grasp and let God be the miraculous, mighty God He’s always been.

The One who loves you and wants a deeper relationship with you, His precious child. ♥️
