When You’re Exhausted

Pay attention when you’re tired, run-down, and spiritually weary.

Did you just come from some sort of battle, or are you heading into one?

Is this weariness from your own doing? Have you been:

Staying up late to watch TV or play games on your phone?
Eating chocolate snack cakes for lunch?
Living on coffee?

Or are you exhausted for another reason?

Perhaps God is using you, and the enemy is throwing everything he can, every fiery dart in his arsenal, to wear you down.

If Satan can’t get you to turn from Jesus…
If the enemy can’t discourage you from following Christ…
If the devil can’t convince you that this path is too hard or that you’re not really hearing from God…

Then Satan is going to do all he can to run you down physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

When you’re worn out, you let your guard down.
You’re an easier target because you’ve lowered your shield of faith.
The enemy’s fiery darts can hit you directly, bringing with them…

Doubt.
Discouragement.
Sadness.

These things, when combined with weariness, seem to take you down to another level of exhaustion, and you wonder why this is happening when you’re serving God and praying. Your thoughts are all over the place, and your body feels physically heavy and drained. You’re ready to throw in the towel and give up because it’s all too much.

Oh, weary soul. It’s time to step back and rest.

You know, rest. What the world labels “lazy” or “unproductive” while dumping guilt onto those willing to do such a thing. And, of course, the enemy will accuse you of wasting time, which is just another lie from the father of lies.

We are all called to rest at times. Even during the middle of the week. Even after you just pulled yourself from bed.

Call out to God and ask Him to shield you while you rest.
Then rest some more.
Eat the nourishing foods you KNOW you need.
Drink water. Then drink some more.

Elijah rested, ate, and drank AFTER a mountaintop victory had him running for his life and just BEFORE he took a forty-day and night journey. (1 Kings 18:16-19:9.)

What are you battling, and where is your journey taking you?

The most powerful thing you can do is stay close to God and listen to Him. Give Him your time, and He will see to it that you have rest.

Remember, your loving Shepherd leads you and MAKES you lie down. He knows exactly what you need.

Including rest. ❤️

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

Psalm 23:1-3 NIV.

Joey.. I never looked at it like this. I know I get physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted way too much. I know a lot is from medical issues but I also know that at times I’m feeling lost, away from friends and family, and just not being in a place where I accepted by some who really don’t want me here. I have moved on from most of this, but I’m here to tell you that some days come along and knock you off your feet. I realize Satan is a huge part of this whirlwind and I’m about to throw him off the merry-go-round the next time he messes with me. Thank you dear one for sharing this.♥️🙏♥️

    1. Oh, my dear friend. I know you’ve gone through a lot but know that God has been with you every step of the way and will continue to help you! I’m sorry some have made you feel unwelcomed. God knows your heart and what you’re needing to heal from all hurts. And…I’m agreeing with you that when Satan comes around, you toss him from that merry-go-round! Speak the name of Jesus Christ and praise and worship the Lord, and the enemy will flee because you’re resisting him AND you’re praising God. Love you so much!
