Look at this picture. Can you imagine yourself standing there?
The silence.
The stillness.
The cold as it brushes against your cheeks.
Do you see yourself turning toward the house, wanting to go inside to escape the bitter cold temperature?
Or are you focused on the fence, maybe needing to finish some chores before darkness comes?
We’re all standing in such a place.
We can choose to turn toward our Heavenly Father’s house, taking steps to follow that narrow path Jesus came to show us in Himself, right up to the front door.
We can even choose to finish our chores before darkness falls. Tasks of all sorts, those Jesus told us to take care of before He returned home.
But a time will come when choosing will be over, when the door to the Father’s house will be locked.
If Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior, the door will close behind you, shutting out the cold and darkness as you step forward into the warmth of His presence for all eternity.
But if you’ve decided to run off, do your own thing, follow the wide road leading away from the Father’s house, and the door shuts, it will be too late to step inside.
You have time right NOW, precious soul. As snow falls around you and the winds pick up, you can choose Jesus Christ and believe in Him as your Lord and Savior:
“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10 NIV.)
Don’t be bashful. Speak those words out loud. Let your voice be heard over the winds of this world, over the voice of the enemy, who will blatantly lie and tell you, ‘You’re busy right now. You can take care of this stuff later.’
Please don’t wait.
Can’t you feel the wind growing colder? Don’t you know night is coming?
And yet, there is a warm room waiting for you in our Father’s house.
And Jesus Christ is the only way to that house. ![]()
“In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I [Jesus] would have told you. I’m going there to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:2 NIV.)
“Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?’ Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'” (John 14:5-6 NIV.)
